Welcome to the OMCC Website – We are a small & friendly West Country based Caving Club. What we may lack in size – we try to make up for with enthusiasm & initiative and often a ‘grin & a wink too!’
And putting it simply :- “We just like caving!” …. & potholing too!
Currently membership is restricted to ex students, friends and families of BTS (Engineering) [Cavers under 16 must be accompanied by their parents/guardian and for any active caving we have a minimum age of 10 years.] We have no upper age limit. We have spare helmets & lamps which beginners may use for a nominal charge.
The Club is a Group Member of The British Caving Association – all Club members being covered by the BCA Insurance Scheme. The Club subscribes to the British Cave Research Association (BCRA) and is also a Member Club of The Council of Southern Caving Clubs (CSCC).
Most of our trips are on Mendip but we also have occasional trips to Wales, Yorkshire and elsewhere.
We have a fair amount of tackle – for use by members on Club Trips & a useful reference library. Club members have many years of independent caving experience and the Club itself was formed in 2008.
In the 1960s some Club members were previously members of a small private Club – the CIO and in those early days also did some rewarding trips with BEC and SVCC.
We hope you enjoy our Website – & from the comfort of your armchair are able see some of the places where we have been enjoying ourselves.
